Building a mix or playlist
Arranging tracks together to create a mix or playlist is a form of storytelling. You get to construct and build a world for the listener. You control the pace of the story and decide the beginning, middle and end.
Be clever with your selections. Select tracks that are not part of the official soundtrack, but ones that resonate with key parts of the plot, characters or themes.
Think about the genre, speed and key of the track. These contribute to setting the scene and composing the story how you want.
Mixes
- Track selections should be relevant to the film or TV show themes.
- 30 minutes or 2 hours, it's your choice how long the mix is.
Playlists
- Think about how you might structure the playlist. Be intentional with the track positions to bring the story to life.
- Keep your playlist to a maximum of 20 songs.
Remember, curating a playlist or mix is a creative process and it's important to always have fun and experiment with different tracks and styles.
